Almost always the vent run. A garage installation usually means a long duct with several bends, and every bend collects lint. The air cannot get out, so the machine keeps running. Clearing the duct restores the drying time, and we check it as part of the repair.
Is a clogged dryer vent actually dangerous?
Yes. Lint is fuel, and a restricted duct traps heat inside the machine. That is the ordinary path to a dryer fire, and it is also why a dryer with a blocked vent keeps tripping its thermal fuse.
Do you work on gas dryers?
